This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for Massachusetts Boys State & Girls State Foundation. This privacy notice applies solely to information collected by Massachusetts Boys & Girls State Foundation, except where stated otherwise. It will notify you of the following:

  • How it can be corrected;
  • How it is secured;
  • How policy changes will be communicated; and
  • How to address concerns over misuse of personal data.


Information Collection, Use, and Sharing 
We are the sole owners of the information collected from you. We only have access to the information we collect (including Personally Identifiable Information) that you voluntarily provide to us verbally, physically and/or electronically. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone unless otherwise noted. 

We will use your information to allow for the operation of the Massachusetts Boys & Girls State Foundation. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to Massachusetts Boys State (officially known as American Legion Massachusetts Boys State) or Massachusetts Girl State (officially known as American Legion Auxiliary Massachusetts Girls State).

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via phone or email in the future to tell you about the Massachusetts Boys & Girl State programs, fundraising, or changes to this privacy policy.

Sharing 
We may share your information with Massachusetts Boys State or Massachusetts Girls State when necessary (e.g fundraising) These other entities do not retain, share, or use the information provided by us for any secondary purposes beyond as mentioned.

Security 
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information to the foundation, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect any information (such as Personally Identifiable Information), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only staff members who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access. The computers/servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

Surveys & Contests 
From time-to-time our foundation requests information via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and you may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and contact information), and demographic information (such as city and zip code). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of improving the foundation and feedback.

Notification of Changes
We have the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will post a notification on the Privacy Policies page of our foundation page. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications.Data RetentionWe will store your personal information to permit the operation of the foundation (Massachusetts Boys State & Girls State Foundation), we may retain and use your information as necessary. We will attempt to remove your personal data upon request. Data Collected from MinorsWe do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18, or knowingly allow such persons to provide us with their personal information, without a parent or guardian consent. If you are under 18, do not transmit any personal information to us without parent or guardian permission. In the event we learn that we have collected personal information from anyone under the age of 18, and do not have a parent or guardian consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from anyone under the age of 18 without a parent of guardian consent, please contact us via email.
